Several updates in the latest release

We continue to make Babiry simpler and safer to use. This update brings a handy new feature for those who share video clips, a more polished look, and improvements that make the service more stable and secure.

🌍 New: Set the right timezone for your diary

Have you ever noticed that a post shows the wrong time – even though you uploaded it in the middle of the day? That was because Babiry previously displayed all times in UTC, a global time format that doesn't match local time zones around the world.

Now, as the diary owner, you can easily choose which timezone should apply. That timezone is then used when your posts and entries are shown in the timeline – for you and for everyone who visits your diary. Times will feel natural and easy to understand for all readers.

How to set your timezone

  1. Open your diary and go to Settings.

  2. Go to the diary profile section.

  3. Find the Timezone field.

  4. Choose your timezone from the list – it's shown with a place name and UTC offset, for example London (UTC+0).

  5. Click Save.

Tip: Choose the timezone that matches where you and your family are located, so the times are accurate for everyone reading the diary.

🎬 Edit video clips before uploading

You can now edit your video clip directly in Babiry – before uploading it. For example, you can trim the beginning or end so only the best moments are included. You can also compress the clip if the file is too large (max 30 MB per clip).

This means you no longer need to edit the video in a separate app before sharing it. Everything happens in one place.

How to upload a video clip

  1. Go to the album you want to add a clip to.

  2. Click Upload video.

  3. Select a video file from your phone or computer.

  4. Trim and adjust the clip if you'd like – then upload.

Note: Once uploaded, the clip is processed for a short while before it appears in the album. That's completely normal!

✏️ New and improved text editor for diary posts

When you write a post in your diary, you'll now be greeted by a new text editor with more options to format and present your text exactly the way you want. It's easy to use and works much like a regular word processor.

You can now:

  • Make text bold, italic, underlined or strikethrough

  • Add headings to divide your text into sections

  • Create bullet lists or numbered lists

  • Align your text – left, center or right

  • Choose the color of your text

  • Insert images directly in the text

  • Add clickable links

  • Highlight a quote with a stylish blockquote

  • Write in fullscreen mode to stay focused

The new fullscreen mode is especially handy for longer posts – click the fullscreen icon in the toolbar and the editor fills your entire screen. Press Esc to go back.

🎨 A more consistent look

We've tidied up the design across Babiry so that buttons, text and pages look the same no matter where you are. Things could look a little inconsistent in some places before – that's now been fixed. The result is an experience that feels more cohesive and easier to navigate.

🔒 Safer behind the scenes

We've also made improvements you won't directly see, but that matter. Babiry has been updated with new security fixes to ensure your photos, video clips and memories are stored and handled even more securely. Our goal is for you to always feel safe when sharing your family memories here.

Thank you for using Babiry – and for all the feedback you share with us. It's thanks to you that we can keep improving! 💙
